First prize won in business contest "ego.Business"

Jöran Beel, Stefan Langer and Marcel Genzmehr won the first round of the businessplan contest ego.Business in the category "science". The three-men team of the group of Prof. Dr. Andreas Nürnberger got the 1.000 € endowed prize on January, 27th at the exhibition „Chancen 2012“ in Halle. The prize was awarded to Jöran Beel, Stefan Langer and Marcel Genzmehr for their software „Docear“, a complete solution for literature management.
The jury was in particular impressed by Docear's unique concept. Docear combines the most important components for literature search, management and creation in a single application. This includes an academic search engine, file (esp. pdf) management, mind mapping, reference management and text editing. The focus of the software lies on management of electronic documents. Users are able to mark and comment all important parts of pdf files. These notes can be sorted freely in a mind map, commented and added by bibliographic data.
A first public beta version is available soon on www.docear.org for all common operating systems (Windows, Linux and Mac OS). Docear is and will be for free. The Docear team aims to receive revenues later on by providing premium services like add-ons for collaboration and data synchronisation.
